Education and Qualifications

2007 – 2008 =Edexcel Level 3 BTEC Foundation Diploma in Art and Design with a distinction obtained at the University of Glamorgan, in Treforest.

2008 – 2011 = I am currently progressing through my final year of a degree in BA (HONS) Fine Art – Combined Media.

Voluntary Work

At present, I am carrying out voluntary work at the Elysium Gallery in Swansea, on Mansel Street. I help out with invigilation and I attend the galleries private views of current exhibitions. Additionally, my intentions are to help set-up up and coming exhibitions by physically offering a hand to all artists and personnel involved. I am doing this because I like meeting new people, particularly creative people, and my ambitions for the future are to obtain a career in gallery work, as well as continuing with my art practise.

Exhibitions

On Friday the 3rd of December, 2010, my first exhibition entitled ‘Natural Traces’ opened at the MAD shop, in Swansea, which is situated directly opposite the Elysium Gallery. The MAD shop stands for Music Arts and Dance, and is a local charity which aims to help put money back into the community through projects such as Artawe. The shop sells items such as handmade jewellery, gift cards, toys, second hand clothing, and local artist’s paintings. It also has a few small back rooms; one which was used for my exhibition where I displayed my work.

The private view began at six in the evening and ended at nine o’clock at night. The ‘Natural Traces’ exhibition was on display for two weeks. The reason why I decided to carry out an exhibition was to support my external liaison project, which requires third year students to make contact with organisations outside of university. Additionally I am interested in gallery work, and I wanted to experience what the artist has to go through when going through the exhibiting process.
